Summer fun may seem to be ending, but there are still a lot of fun August activities.

Enjoy a Gallery Walk downtown on August 1st from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Various venues will be open, featuring art, live music and refreshments. The Tippecanoe Arts Federation will host a reception for Gallery Exhibits.

August 6–13 come out to Loeb Stadium at Columbian Park as they once again host the Colt League Baseball World Series. A summer ritual since 1973, featuring 15 & 16 year old boys from various countries.

On August 9th, 2008 the citizens of Battle Ground will celebrate its 150th Anniversary. Events throughout the day from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. include breakfast, horse drawn carriage rides, historical character reenactments, a brass band, garden tours, a parade and ice cream social.

Take a Mosey Down Main Street on August 9th... Downtown Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6th to 9th Streets and 9th to 11th Streets to allow merchants to sell their products outside and musician and other artists to put their talents on display – 6:00 p.m. to Midnight.

Enjoy “Purdue Day” with a ride on the Boilermaker Special at the Downtown Farmers Market, August 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., along with the fresh garden vegetables, fruit, flowers and crafts. Farmers Markets are held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in Downtown Lafayette and every Wednesday at Cumberland Park in West Lafayette. The free Tour the Town Trolley provides guided tours every Saturday morning at 9:40 and 10:40 across from the Downtown Farmers Market at the corner of 5th and Main Streets.

August 23rd offers a full day of fun...
~ Sample the "Feast of the Hunters’ Moon" with hands-on activities music & demonstrations during the “Feast Sampler” from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fort Ouiatenon.
~ Watch the 10,000+ adopted rubber ducks at Tropicanoe Cove at 4:00 p.m. for the Annual Boys & Girls Club Rubber Duck Race.
~ 5:00 p.m. to Midnight you can sample jazz & blues music, food, beer and wine at the Uptown Jazz & Blues Festival. Downtown on 5th Street between Main & Columbia Streets.

Thursday nights starting at 7:30 p.m. at Riehle Plaza still offer the Lafayette Citizens Band Concerts.

To end August activities be sure to attend the Global Fest August 30, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of West Lafayette’s many cultures featuring ethnic foods, imported handicrafts, free entertainment and cultural booths.
